Karachi: The government has given police powers to the Frontier Constabulary (FC) to maintain law and order situation in Karachi.
According the new powers the FC would have powers to intercept, check, arrest and detained suspects . The Rangers have also been enjoying the powers but the situation remains unchanged.
Federal Interior Minister Rehamn Malik and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah presided over a meeting in Chief Minister House.
According to a statement issued here on Tuesday the meeting decided that indiscriminate action would be taken against miscreants irrespective of their affiliation.However the FC would be called when needed.
Sources said that heavy contingent of Rangers have been sent to the affected areas to launch targeted action.
