Karachi: Pakistan’s prominent journalist Haroon-ur-Rasheed has revealed that one of the Pakistan People’s Party most responsible leaders told him that they (PPP) motivated ANP—with the support of President Asif Ali Zardari—to tackle MQM in Karachi.
Talking to a private Pakistani TV channel—Samaa News’ programme New Beat—Haroon-ur-Rasheed also disclosed that out of the 24,000 missing NATO containers several were filled with weapons, being used in Karachi.
He challenged that he could prove his statement in the Supreme Court of Pakistan and if he fails to proof his statement he would quit journalism and would never ever come on television. He also unveiled that the PPP leader also told him that President Zardari considered clash between ANP and MQM his success.
Rasheed said that the only solution to restore peace in Karachi was handed over the power to police, adding there is no need of any other force in Karachi.
He said that police was well enough to maintain law and order situation of Karachi if it gets powers. He said the Benazir Bhutto restored peace in Karachi in her tenure in 1995 only by giving powers to police.
