Karachi: Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has signed reformed Local Body Ordinance 2011 in the wee hours of Monday, terminating Commissionarate System which was restored on June 27.
Earlier, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah also signed the ordinance on Late Sunday. After the approval of the ordinance from CM Sindh and Governor Sindh, the recently approved reformed Local Body Ordinance 2011 has been restored with immediate effect in across Sindh.
Now, previous Local Body System has been effected in Sindh.
On the occasion, Agha Siraj Durrani, Manzoor Wasan and Sharjeel Memon were also present.
After signing of the LB Ordinance, Sindh’s previous status has been restored.
After approval of the bill, Karachi’s 18 towns have been restored while in other parts of Sindh previous union councils have also been restored.
It is pertinent to mention here that town system is applicable only in Karachi.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party and Sindh’s nationalist parties strongly opposed the decision and demanded to restore previous Commissionarate System.
