Karachi: Thousand of Karachiites participated in a rally aimed at lodging their protest against unabated targeted killings, anarchy and extortion in the city here on Jumatul Wida (last Friday of Ramadan).
The protesters from all walks of life marched from Jama Masjid Banori Town to Quaid Mausoleum under the banner of Jamaat-e-Islami as part of JI Save Karachi Movement.
Addressing the rally, JI Naib Ameer Prof Ghafoor Ahmed who led the rally said he spent a major part of his life in Karachi, adding that he is witness of this that people from all over the country live here with harmony and brotherhood. However, some nefarious designs wanted to sabotage the peace of the city for malign interest.
He regretted that Karachi is burning and economical activities of the city are in shamble but the rulers have no concerns over it and they are merely doing tactics how to save their chairs.
He was of the view that if the government want it can maintain peace in the city but terrorists are not being brought to book for personal interest of political parties.
Expecting peace without taking indiscriminate action against outlaws is useless and no fruitful results could be obtained, he added. JI Sindh Ameer Asadullah Bhutto said the government did not fulfill its promise for maintaining peace in the city.
