London: Pakistan Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik met Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain in London to discuss a number of issues, particularly the formation of a caretaker setup before the coming elections.
Core committees of both the MQM and the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will hold meeting to discuss controversial matters, said a statement issued by the MQM.
The federal minister said that though both parties contest the upcoming general election separately, a seat adjustment is likely.
Malik also conveyed best wishes to the MQM chief from President Asif Ali Zardari.
Lauding MQM’s role in the current tenure of the PPP, he said that without the MQM it was not possible for the government to complete its five-year term.
Hussain said that old relationships would prevail for the best interest of the country, especially Sindh.
