Islamabad: Only 12 per cent of Pakistani women think men and women are not granted the same rights in terms of access to education, a recent Gallup survey has revealed.
In a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, a nationally representative sample of women from across the four provinces was asked “In your community/area, are women and men granted the same rights in terms of access to education?”
Responding to this, 40 per cent said ‘completely’, 47 per cent said ‘to an extent’ and 12 per cent said ‘not at all’. However, 1 per cent did not give a response. This question used a women only sample and is part of a series of press releases regarding Women’s Day.
The survey was carried out among a sample of 1265 women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during February 18, 2013 – February 25, 2013.
