Islamabad: The eight member parliamentary committee formed to appoint interim prime minister of the country has failed in their efforts after long sittings in Islamabad.
Announcing the decision of the committee, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that it was for the first time politicians were given chance to appoint an interim PM but they had failed in their efforts.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khurshid Shah also said that for the first time parliament was given mandate to choose the interim PM but they failed and now Election Commission of Pakistan would decide the name of interim PM.
Speaking from the opposition side, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mehtab Abbasi said that it is now the responsibility of ECP to decide the name of interim PM.
PML-N’s Khawaja Saad Rafique further added that it was not the failure of politicians adding that it was a good practice that for the first time the names given from both sides have a good reputation and were not criticsed.
“We should accept the decision of ECP on the interim PM,” he added.
