Islamabad: After failing to select caretaker prime minister during two sessions on Friday, the parliamentary committee will again at 9pm tonight.
The matter will be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan if the committee fails to select the PM in the next session.
Both the government and opposition members seem reluctant to show flexibility in their point of view.
After the post-lunch and prayer break session, Khawaja Saad Rafiq said that the committee would sit again at 9pm to take the final decision. “It will not be unconstitutional if the matter goes to the election commission,” Rafiq, the PML-N‘s leader, said.
The ECP would have two days to appoint a caretaker prime minister from the same list of nominees provided to the committee if the matter goes to it.
The government’s member in the committee Khursheed Shah said the PML-N members had asked for time to consult with the leadership of their party.
Moreover, sources said that Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, the government nominee for the caretaker PM’s slot, could be selected for the post as PML-N had no big reservation over his name.
