ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday gave time Jamshed Dasti to hire counsel in his review petition against disqualification over holding fake degree and adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite time.
A six-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had disqualified Jamshed Dasti on March 25, 2010 for contesting elections while holding a fake degree.
During the hearing of review petition today (Friday), Justice Tasaduq Hussain Jilani remarked that Dasti had come to the court very late against the order. “954 days have been passed since the court’s order.”
Justice Jilani asked Dasti if he wanted to hire counsel in the case.
On this, Dasti sought time from the court to hire lawyer in the case.
Subsequently, the court allowed Dasti to hire counsel and adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period of time.
