ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan meets on Saturday to select a caretaker prime minister for the country after an eight-member parliamentary committee formed for the task failed to reach a decision.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, who is heading the meeting, earlier said that the ECP would only take two hours to make a decision on the matter.
The meeting also discussed the letter of the parliamentary committee which constituted of four representatives from the government and opposition each.
The four nominees for the post of an interim PM are: names are Ishrat Hussain, Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid, Rasool Bakhsh Palijo and Mir Hazar Khan Khoso.
The commission is supposed to make a decision within two days, and if it failed to do so, the choice of majority would be considered.
