A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion, what is the worst crime committed against women?” Responding to this, 39% said throwing acid, 24% said domestic violence, 21% said honor killing and 13% said vani (child marriage). However, 3% did not give a response.
Comparing results between localities, there is not much difference between rural (39%) and urban (40%) areas in identifying ‘throwing acid’ as the worst crime committed against women. However, 32% of people living in urban areas think domestic violence is the second worst crime committed against women, whereas it was only identified by 20% in rural areas.
