ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 71% of married Pakistanis are extremely happy with their marriage, only 2% are extremely unhappy; urban married couples much less happier.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “To what extent are you happy or unhappy with your relationship?” This question was only asked from respondents who were married. Responding to this, 71% said they are ‘extremely happy’, 24% said ‘somewhat happy’, 2% said ‘neither happy nor unhappy’, 1% said ‘somewhat unhappy’ and 1% said ‘extremely unhappy.’ However, 1% did not give a response.
It is interesting to note that 77% of respondents living in rural areas are ‘extremely happy’ with their relationships whereas the number is lower in urban areas, where 56% of respondents are ‘extremely happy’ with their relationships.
