SC allows Wahida Shah to contest general election

Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday allowed Wahida Shah, a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader who slapped a returning officer during by-polls in Sindh, to contest the general election.

Ms. Shah moved the apex court against her 2-year disqualification by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

During hearing of Ms. Shah’s petition, the apex court termed the ECP’s decision void and allowed the PPP candidate to contest the general election.
