ISLAMABAD: On the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has devised electronic voting software for facilitating the overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes in the upcoming elections-2013.
The country’s apex court has ordered the Nadra to prepare software to facilitate the overseas nationals to cast their votes.
On Friday, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, hearing case pertaining to giving voting right to overseas nationals, had remarked that National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) should quit if he fails to provide voting facility to Pakistani living abroad.
“The Supreme Court will be briefed over the issue tomorrow,” Nadra Chairman, Tariq Malik told Geo News.
“The political parties and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would also be taken into confidence relating to the use of this software enabling overseas Pakistanis casting their votes, the television quoted Malik as saying.
Tariq Malik said that his organization also helped ECP in devising a system for the scrutiny of the electoral candidates that would filter out the tax defaulters and dual nationals.
