Apple’s preparation for iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 should be accelerated now as Microsoft has joined hands with QualComm to integrate Snapdragon 800 processor for its upcoming range of Windows RT 8.1 tablets, notebooks and convertibles.
Apple is known for quality, speed, and smooth working of its tablets; however, Microsoft is emerging as a player in the tablets market with Surface series.
According to official sources, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processors deliver high performance, low power and integrated 3G/4G LTE for next generation Windows RT 8.1 tablets, convertibles and notebooks
The processors include an integrated Multimode 3G and 4G LTE modem and CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz.
“Qualcomm Technologies and Microsoft will continue to work together on the next level of advanced mobile computing and Microsoft will offer a free software update to Windows RT 8.1. The free update will be available in the Windows Store later this year,” the statement from Qualcomm read.
Microsoft Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro are likely to be released later this year, however no confirmed released date is available with us.
With a number of tablets from Samsung including Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Tab 10.0, Apple is already facing a tough challenge from Android tablets. Now Microsoft has been slowly getting share from the tablet markets.
Upcoming range from Apple including iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 are going to see some of the strongest opponents in form of Surface Pro 2 and others. The question is: will there be something new at last from Apple or not?
