Birmingham: Pakistan will face South Africa on Monday in a must win match for both teams in International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy played at Edgbaston.
West Indies have beaten Pakistan by two wickets in a low-score game while South Africa lost its match against India by 26 runs. Now both teams will face each other in do-or-die situation in ICC Champions Trophy.
According to One Day International (ODI) statistics, both teams have met each other 62 times. South Africa have beaten Pakistan 41 time while green shirts manages to get victory in 20 matches with one match end without result.
Pakistan have an edge in this match because of the leading bowlers of South Africa, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel will miss this match due to injury. Green Shirts haven’t performed well except skipper Misbah ul Haq and left-handed energetic batsman Nasir Jamshed as far as batting is concerned. Bowling will be the key for Green shirts especially with Saeed Ajmal, Junaid Khan and Mohammad Irfan who performed well against West Indies.
On the other hand, AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla and JP Duminy will play a vital role in the batting of South Africa. Experts expressed their fears regarding South African bowling end due to the unavailability of main striking bowlers Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel because of injuries, which would be a slight disadvantage for SA in the upcoming match.
But overall the teams are ready for the coming match. All the fans are hoping to see the tough competition.
