In the federal budget 2013-14, the federal government has allocated about Rs. 34 billion for the ministry.
According to sources, Khawaja Saad Rafique has demanded for a Rs. 47 billion budget to revive the deteriorating public utility.
“Pakistan Railways is passing through drastic financial crunch but by the coordinated efforts the operation of the organization will be streamlined,” the minister said.
He warned the Railways officials to refrain from corruption at all levels besides woving to make appointments on merit.
