London: Kumar Sangakara guided Sri Lanka with a ton to win over England by seven wickets here in a group match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy at the Oval.
Sri Lanka lost an early wicket at the score of 10 when opener Kushal Janith Perera caught by Ravi Bopara. Then Kumar Sangakara and Tillakaratne Dilshan showed resistance on the crease. Dilshan after making 44 become the victim of Graeme Swann at the total of 102. While Sangakara and Mahela Jayawardane made another great partnership which was broken by James Anderson at the score of 187.
Sangakara stay till the end of the Lankan innings with Nuwan Kulasakara. Sangakara made an uneaten century while Kulasekara made quick half century. Sangakara remain not out on 134 of 135 balls with Kulasekara’s unbeaten 58 runs of 38 balls guide Sri Lanka home with 2 overs and 5 balls to spare.

Earlier Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. England have got a confident start with skipper Alastair Cook and Ian Bell. First wicket of England falls at the score of 48 when Rangina Herath caught Ian Bell leg before wicket (lbw). While skipper Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott showed some resistance on the crease. Alastair Cook made 56 with Jonathan Trott’s 76 runs and Joe Root quick 68 to get England a respetable total of 293 runs on loss of seven wickets.
Lasith Malinga and Rangina Herath took 2 wickets respectively while Nuwan Kulasekara finishes of its spell with 1 wicket for 42 runs.
