London: Jonathan Trott and Joe Root shine to guide England a comfortable victory over South Africa in first semi-final of International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy played at the Oval.
Jonathan Trott and Joe Root struck unbeaten half centuries chasing 175 runs against South Africa to guide them a comfortable victory in the semi-final. England loses an early wicket in shape of skipper Alastair Cook at the score of 22 runs.
England team recovered well as Jonathan Trott and Joe Root came to rescue England. Trot remain unbeaten till the end of the innings. Trott made 82 runs while Root‘s 48 runs stand guide England a comfortable 7 wicket victory over South Africa.
Chris Morris, Jean Paul Duminy and Rory Kleinveldt took one wicket each for South Africa.
Earlier England won the toss and decided to field first. South Africa top order collapse, as they lose 8 wickets at the total of 80 runs. David Millers unbeaten 56 runs while Rory Kleinveldt’s 43 give some hope to South Africa. They manage to score 175 all out.
Stuart Broad and James Tredwell took 3 wicket each while James Anderson finishes off with 2 for England.
