TEXAS: Social media abuzz with # StandWithWendy after Democrat’s Senator from Texas, Wendy Davis made waves on Tuesday when she spent around 13 hours attempting a filibuster to block a GOP-led effort to impose strict new abortion restrictions across the Lone Star State.
Over 120,000 tuned in to the livestream of the event, and the hashtag #StandWithWendy began trending on Twitter.
Davis corralled observers from across the world. The filibuster was streamed on YouTube by the Texas Tribune.
US President Barack Obama also tweeted his support for Davis.

Some of the strongest support for Davis came out of Texas, where hundreds of supporters gathered in the capitol’s rotunda for a sit-in.
