ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered to hold presidential election on July 30 instead of August 6.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry directed the ECP to conduct Presidential Election after considering Pakistan federal government requests for modification in schedule.
Election Commission of Pakistan has announced to follow the SC direction for holding election.
SC ordered to conduct the election on July 30 during 10:00 am till 03:00 pm and scrutiny process of the nomination papers will be completed on July 26.
Chief Justice said that nominated papers can be received back by the candidates on July 27 instead of July 29 while ECP will announce the final list of accepted candidates on the same date.
Earlier, ECP has contacted the Supreme Court to issue an order to announce the election date and its officials announced to consider SC decision.
Pakistan federal government had requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on July 19 to change the polling date as mostly members of assemblies will be busy in Ramadan retreat and some members will not present due to Umrah prayers.
However, ECP rejected the request for any change in the schedule of presidential election.
ECP finalised schedule of presidential election in Pakistan on July 16.
