LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday has declared the academic degree legal of the suspended Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ghulam Sarwar of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
LHC has observed PTI affiliated Ghulam Sarwar’s degree legal and genuine as well as pronounced him eligible for the MNA post.
The court’s decision came in light of the academic record related to Sarwar’s degree as the particulars were matched with the submitted degree after the correction of records.
Earlier, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry-led three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) followed by the hearings of petitions pertaining to fake degrees of some parliamentarians after the Higher Education Commission (HEC) submitted a report on the case.
It should be mentioned that Ghulam Sarwar Khan had defeated defeated Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan from NA-53 Rawalpindi on May 11 General Election but was suspended over allegedly holding a fake degree until final verification by the academic board.
