Multan: Former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has refused to appear before an investigation team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in NICL corruption case and said that he has immunity and not one can arrest him.
Talking to media here in Multan, the ex-PM said that he never bothered with the judicial notices and declared handcuff as his ‘jewellery’.
Gillani reached Multan from Islamabad today after refusing to present before court while while personal secretary of the ex-PM has received summons issued by NAB.
Gillani declared former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry as politician and said that if he was sincere, former dictator Pervez Musharaf would have been in jail.
He expressed his hopes that the incumbent Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain JIllani would not react like a politicians and would behave like a professional.
Gillani said that the constitution gave him an immunity as a former PM and if the government wanted to finish the law so the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would immend the constitution and he would support the PM.
It is to be mention here that a three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry issued the verdict.
Earlier in November, Supreme Court in its verdict, handed over the investigation of NICL scam to NAB and ordered to register cases against all those politicians and bureaucrats involved in the scam.
