Karachi: The Sindh government has again decided to block Skype, Viber, Tango and WhatsApp, in the province for security reasons.
The Sindh government has written a letter to the federal government to inform with the decision.
Earlier today, a high level meeting with Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in the chair.
The major decisions have been taken in the meeting regarding to maintain law and order situation in the province.
This is not the first time communication services have been blocked in the name of security.
A number of temporary cellular service blocks were implemented in 2013 by the government as an anti-terrorism measure.
Last time on October 3, the Sindh government took the decision regarding this.
According to a report, various political and social obstacles to net freedom have been put in place by successive governments in the name of fighting terrorism.
In blocking these services, Pakistan follows in the footsteps of Saudi Arabia, where Viber is banned.
