Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday has given its verdict on a plea seeking removal of the former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).
The SHC special division bench observed that the court had not issued orders to the interior ministry for inclusion of Musharraf’s name in the ECL and Pervez Musharaf has to contact with the government.
AQ Halepota, representing Musharraf, said his client wanted to be with his 95-year-old ailing mother in Dubai after his release on bail, adding that placing his client’s name on the ECL was a violation of fundamental rights. He requested the court to review its earlier order.
Musharraf had earlier filed the petition seeking permission to visit his ailing mother.
Earlier this month, the former military dictator was granted bail by the court in his trial for the alleged murder of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and various other charges.
