Islamabad: A bomb found outside the residence of former president Pervez Musharaf just before he was going to the special court in teason case proceeding.
Miscreants had placed a suspicious bag outside the residence of the former president.
Police and security teams reached the site and the Bomb Disposal Squad was also summoned.
BDS personnel recovered the bomb from the bag and defused it.
At least five kilogram of explosive material was used in the bomb.
Armed government paramilitary Rangers were stationed around the National Library building, where the hearing is to take place, and shipping containers put in place to form a security barrier to the compound.
The court now postponed the hearing till 11 am as Musharaf would not be presented in the court due to the terrorism bid .
It is the first time in Pakistan’s history that a former military ruler has been put on trial for treason.
The case puts the government, which brought the charges, on a collision course with the all-powerful army, which faces the embarrassment of having its former chief tried by civilians.
