Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday lodged a strong protest against the recent US drone strikes in North Waziristan that killed four persons, and demanded to end them on immediate basis.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, these strikes are a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Pakistan has repeatedly emphasized the importance of bringing an immediate end to drone strikes, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said in the statement.
“The Government of Pakistan has consistently maintained that drone strikes are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives and have human rights and humanitarian implications,” she said.
She said the US drone strikes have a negative impact on the mutual desire of both countries to forge a cordial and cooperative relationship and to ensure peace and stability in the region.
It is pertinent to mention here that US deadly drone fired missiles in North Waziristan, killing four people, while injured six more.
