KARACHI: The Pakistani citizens have made amazing record in the telecommunication world by sending Short Message Service (SMS) in larger number as exchanged around 315.7 billion text messages during 2012-13, reports said.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) report revealed that an average of 865 million SMS were sent in a day during the specified time period between July 2012 and June 2013, report quoted by local website ProPakistani.
According to reports, significant growth in SMS traffic was seen up to 13.68 per cent in the year 2012-13 as compare to the last year while the growth declared as low in comparison with 2011-2012 but the subscriber ratio found high this year.
During 2011-2012, the number of 237.6 billion SMS was recorded by the telecommunication industry in 2011 as approximately 214 messages were sent by a single user in a month while it was 131 messages per subscriber in average numbers during 2009-10.
According to the given statistics, the telecommunication industry earned highest amount of Rs22.5 billion in 2011 with highest traffic growth ratio up to 45 per cent and earned at least Rs12.4 billion in 2011 with growth ratio of 35 per cent.
