RIYADH: Despite taking prominent supportive actions for their nationals, Pakistani officials have adopted complete silence over expatriates’ problematic situations present in Saudi Arabian prison cells.
More than 4,000 Pakistani expatriates facing worst treatment in Saudi Arabian jails who were arrested following large-scale crackdown by Saudi authorities after law modification for foreign citizens residing in the kingdom, media reports said.
The KSA’s crackdowns resulted imprisonment of thousands of expatriates from various countries; while the Saudi jail officials failed provision of reasonable diets to the prisoners, Express News reported.
On the other hand, the sponsors are reportedly demanding 20,000 Saudi Riyals for giving extension in visa duration to Pakistani expatriates.
The newspaper contacted some Pakistani families for their stance, who revealed that Pakistan’s Foreign Office is not providing any help for their relatives’ release.
It should be mentioned that the Pakistani Foreign Office (FO) had confirmed the presence of at least 300 Pakistanis in Saudi Arabian jails and claimed for taking prominent actions for their return to the country.
