COLOMBO: Sri Lankan Cricket Board ditched Pakistan on ‘Big Three’ issue and has decided to support the International Cricket Council revamp giving greater power to India, England and Australia.
“The Executive Committee met today [February 17th] at SLC headquarters to converse regarding the revised resolutions forwarded by the ICC at the Board meeting held on 8th February 2014 in Singapore,” the SLC said in a statement.
Sri Lanka along with Pakistan abstained from the vote in Singapore, saying it needed time to discuss the proposal.
South Africa and Bangladesh also initially opposed the contentious proposals then changed their minds.
The unanimous decision came 10 days after eight of the 10 Test-playing nations gave the big three the 75 percent majority they needed for the controversial wide-ranging reforms.
