Madinah: Seven Pakistani pilgrims have been died while 13 other sustained injuries on Sunday when their bus collided with a truck on the Makkah-Madinah highway.
According to details, two of the deceased identified as Mohammed Hassan and Manahel Fatima while the names of the other pilgrims have not been released.
Tahseen-ul-Haque, the welfare officer at the Pakistan Consulate, told Arab News that the bus was traveling from Madinah to Makkah carrying 49 pilgrims from Egypt, Pakistan and Syria when it hit a truck head on at Al-Hijra, about 100 km from Madinah.
The driver caused the accident by speeding, said Tahseen.
He said the Pakistan welfare section would write a letter to the Saudi authorities to ensure that companies hire safe and responsible drivers.
