KARACHI: Police in Karachi have foiled a terror attack on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari by catching two terrorists with an explosive laden vehicle.
The arrests were made on a tip-off in Mauripur area of Karachi. About 100 Kg explosive material and other arms were confiscated from the terrorists.
The terrorists bleonged to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and were identified as Faridullah Mehsud and Ayub.
Mehsud told police officials that he was tasked to kill PPP chairman as he was a vocal critic of Taliban.
Hearing the news, PPP chairman tweeted “Tum Kitnay Bhuto maro gay? Har ghar say Bhutto niklay ga” (How many Bhuttos will you kill, a Bhutto will come out of every house), his party slogan.
The PPP chairman has repeatedly spoken against the militant group and its aims and was a high value target for them.
