Colombo: Sri Lankan cricket team received rousing welcome from its nation on Sunday as winning the Asia Cup 2014 in Bangladesh.
The team was displayed amazingly in an open bus to the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) headquarters where huge fans were thronged along the route from the international airport to welcome the champion team.
This was Sri Lanka’s first major international trophy since they won a triangular home series involving India and New Zealand.
In the Asia Cup, Sri Lankan defeated Pakistan to get the winning trophy at Mirpur on Monday.
The players demand 20 per cent of money derived from International Cricket Council (ICC) events. The SLC have not responded so far positively to the demand.
The SLC sources said they were in the process of working out a different formula which would be mutually beneficial to both the administration and cricketers.
