ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has once again clarified details regarding usage of nuclear programme in various development projects and committed with non-proliferation aim of the technology.
PM Nawaz Sharif held meeting with Yukiya Amano, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in Islamabad on Tuesday (today), local media reported.
Sharif said that Pakistani nuclear power plants and research centres are working under regulations of the IAEA and completely secured from possibilities of proliferation.
Sharif said that Pakistan’s nuclear programme is fulfilling all requirements in shape of international rules and regulations of the agency.
The nuclear technology is being used for production of electricity in order to counter severe energy shortage in the country; while some programmes are projected for development of medicine and agriculture sectors, the PM said.
Pakistan is using the technology in water management departments to void expected shortage of water supplies in the country, he said.
