NEW DELHI: Indian Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday has said that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President N. Srinivasan should step down from his post due to ongoing investigation on Indian Premier League (IPL) case.
A two-member bench of Supreme Court comprising of Justice AK Patnaik and Justice Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim Kalifulla was hearing the case.
During the hearing the inquiry reports submitted by the Justice Mukul Mudgal, head of the committee on betting and match-fixing in Indian Premier League 2013.
According to Indian media, the SC said Mudgal probe panel report in a sealed envelope contains very serious allegations and unless the BCCI president steps down, no fair probe can be conducted.
“You are filled with filth, there needs to be serious cleaning,” SC reportedly told BCCI lawyers.
The Mudgal committee submitted two reports to the Supreme Court on February 10.
The first, signed by retired judge Justice Mudgal and Additional Solicitor General of India L. Nageswara Rao, asked the court to “decide the further course of action” because the probe committee did not have the power to impose punishment.
