ISLAMABAD: United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Timo Pakkala insists that more aid are immediately needed to gear up nutrition help in drought affected Tharparkar area.
Timo Pakkala said more cases of malnutrition and child mortality are reported in Tharparkar.
Tharparkar region in tied grip of nutrition crises, he said in a statement.
The United Nations (UN) says that more funds are urgently required to scale up support for nutrition interventions, including sustainable development solutions, to tackle the nutrition crisis in the drought-affected Tharparkar region. The UN and its partners have been providing nutritional support in Sindh since 2010, assisting 1.7 million children and 800,000 pregnant and lactating women through malnutrition management, nutrient supplementation, and health and nutrition counselling.
On the other hand Chief Minister Sindh Coordinator, Taj Haider stated that 0.1 million wheat bags have been distributed in drought-hit areas of Tharparkar.
Haider also informed that over 50000 patients including children have also been provided medical treatment.
