Islamabad: A team of lawyers of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, who defended him in treason case have announced to boycott the proceedings of the special court here on Monday.
According to reports, Musharraf’s lawyer team has the view that the head of the three-judge court could not proceed with the high treason case because he had decided during earlier hearing that he would not hear the case.
On Friday, after an unexpected and unusual rising of the court comprising Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court, Justice Tahira Safdar of Balochistan High Court and Justice Yawar Ali of Lahore High Court during the hearing, defence and prosecution lawyers assumed that the bench had recused itself from further hearing.
So the lawyers said that they would not take part in the hearing till the separation of the Justice Faisal Arab from the bench.
Due to current situation, on the request of lawyers of Musharraf, Barrister Farogh Naseem, a senator and legal advisor to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) joined him.
