Mexico City: Mexico came back from two goals down at half-time to battle to a 2-2 draw with the United States on Wednesday in a World Cup warm-up in Phoenix.
USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann sprang a selection surprise by replacing Landon Donovan with Brad Davis and starting with Chris Wondolowski instead of Eddie Johnson.
The hosts seized the lead in the 15th minute as a Graham Zusi corner found Michael Bradley who fired it home.
“It was something we talked about before the game, that on set-pieces at the back post it was going to be an opportunity,” Bradley said.
The USA doubled their lead when Wondolowski justified his selection by slotting past Mexico’s keeper.
Mexico hit back within four minutes of the restart, defender Rafael Marquez heading home from a corner, and levelled in the 67th minute through Alan Pulido.
