ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani said that no one is permitted to seize citizen’s right for movement in the country.
Addressing a full court reference held in honour of outgoing Justice Khilji Arif in Islamabad today, he said all institutions should work for strengthening of democracy in the country.
The CJ said rule of law is imperative to steer the country out of all challenges and put it on the development path.
He said country faced with terrorism and sectarianism sought war and nation is fighting with menace of genocide, discrimination against minorities, and cruelty with children and women. Whole of the nation needs balanced attitude towards war against terrorism and stability of democracy, he added.
It is sacred duty of Supreme Court of Pakistan to protect democracy and we have to safeguard constitutional value of democracy, CJ said
CJ categorically said that no one is permitted to violate common citizen’s right of freedom under name of national security.
If someone neglected rights of people then nobody stop us to carry out our duty, he said.
