KHYBER AGENCY, KPK: Banned militant outfit, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), on Sunday reportedly released at least 34 abducted persons who were kidnapped over allegedly selling opium and hashish in a local festival.
The tribesmen were abducted from Haider Kando are of Tirah Valley situated in Khyber Agency of Pakistan, Dawn News reported.
Huge quantity of drugs including above hundreds of kilograms of cannabis and hashish was also taken away by the militants.
According to reports, the local tribesmen were organising a ‘grand fair’ on Saturday but Taliban militants raided on the area over allegedly trading of narcotics and kidnapped 40 persons, subsequently released 34 except six persons.
The report claimed that Sheikmal Khel sub tribesmen of the Qamberkhel tribe were segregated from the others and were taken away by the militants.
According to unofficial sources, the number of kidnapped tribesmen is close to 100 and they had been picked up for their involvement in the drug trade, Dunya News reported.
Moreover, security forces also conducted a search operation in the area to rescue the men.
