PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lawmakers belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) threatened the Punjab’s authorities for electricity transmission lines cut in case of power supply closure in any area of KPK.
The join threatening statements from the ruling political party – PTI – affiliated assembly members came forward during the expectation of electricity supply cut to KPK province from Punjab after closure of Mathra and Shahi Bala feeders.
KPK’s members of provincial assembly (MPAs) including Mehmood Khan and Fazal Elahi said in a press conference at Peshawar’s press club that it’s a basic right for getting electric supply to KPK first, local media reported.
He said that at least 5,000 citizens of KPK would be deprived of electricity following closure of Mathra and Shahi Bala feeders.
The lawmakers also threatened that voluntarily arrestment movement will be started in case of electricity shortage to the KPK province.
The joint statement said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has appointed a ‘unserious person’ as Minister of Water and Power; threatens that Punjab transmission lines would be disconnected in case of feeders’ closure of Peshawar, the provincial capital of KPK.
Earlier, the federal power minister Abid Sher Ali signalled electricity supply closure in some areas over allegedly electricity theft and non-payment of bill.
