LAHORE: Powerful explosions occurred in the provincial capital Lahore of Punjab on Sunday; injuring dozens of children aged between 10-17 following gas balloons explosions while they were playing in a playground.
The sorrowful incident injured more than 28 persons including children in majority when they were playing in the playground situated in Kamahaan road in Lahore, reports said.
Rescue teams have shifted 20 injured persons to Jinnah hospital and 8 in General hopsital.
Some eyewitnesses told media that at least 300 gas balloons were lifted off during the inauguration ceremony of Walton flyover in the presence of Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif today, local news channel reported.
According to reports, all injured were under treatment in burns unit of the hospitals while doctors declared their condition ‘out of danger’.
Heavy contingents of police deployed on the location and investigation has been commenced in the incident.
CM Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the gas balloons blast and ordered the related departments to hold complete investigation of the incident
