ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s finance minister Ishaq Dar has taken notice of hiked-up potato prices and directed the authorities to take immediate action for reduction.
Ishaq Dar issued the directions to the related authorities while chairing special meeting in the federal capital Islamabad on Monday.
The federal minister took positive step for facilitating the locals across the country as potatoes being sold at cost of Rs50 per kilogram despite additional production this year.
Dar warned that the federal authorities would not allow the hoarders for illegal activities by selling and directed to set prices immediately up to Rs30.
He said the federal government will remove import duty from potatoes in Pakistan in order to reduce potata rate per kilogram.
The finance minister clarified the local production figure of potatoes in the country which is approximately 1.1 million tons this year.
