KARACHI: Nine locomotives has inducted into the government-administered largest transportation organisation, Pakistan Railways, in the presence of federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday.
Federal Minister of Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique inaugurated the new locomotives of Pakistan Railways in Karachi, the metropolis of Pakistan.
While addressing to the inauguration ceremony, Rafique detailed that new locomotives were purchased by a Chinese company with complete assurance of ‘error-free’ machinery by the makers.
He admitted that the federal authorities were undecided regarding purchasing of Chinese locomotives for Pakistan Railways.
The federal minister claimed that corrupt and thieves has been sidelined by the railway administration and vowed to keep them aside till current tenure of federal government.
He said that approximately 500 locomotives are needed to make the Pakistan Railways full operational across the country while several strategies are being discussed with US and Chinese experts in order to take modern moves in the department.
Regarding security of railway assets from terror attempts, Rafique said that provincial governments are responsible for security of railway lines within their boundaries.
He added that the railway administration has increased patrolling in various sensitive areas in order to prevent from terrorism bids.
