Zarb-e-Azb: Ground operation launched in North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH: Pakistani military has commenced ground operation commenced in militant-held Miranshah town of North Waziristan Agency (NWA); house to house search also being carried out by infantry troops and special service group.


Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) detailed that at least 15 terrorists were killed in ground offensive on Tuesday while Pakistani troops recovered underground tunnels and IEDs preparation factories.

Three soldiers got injuries during the exchange of fire with terrorists resisting the armed officials in the area.

It should be mentioned that Pakistani military has launched ground operation after completing safe evacuation of all civil population from being operated tribal areas.

Severe attacks on terrorists’ concentrations were carried out by military artillery, tanks and other heavy weapons in Mirali and other areas, whereas, the security personnel cordoning off the other areas where terrorists are hiding.

The military started on June 15 by the Pakistani armed forces entering into its success level as per claims made by the Pakistani government and military as 376 terrorists were killed while 19 have surrendered before security forces.

ISPR statistics showed that 61 terrorists’ hideouts were completedly destroyed in the operation during last 15 days. On the other hand, 17 Pakistani soldiers have lost their lives in the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation.

Distribution of relief items including 30000 ration packs each of 110 Kilogram amongst Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) carried out at Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank areas.

Pakistan Army collected 276 ton rations items from donations points established in major cities of  the country.

5,665 patients received medical treatment at the Field Medical Hospital established at Khalifa Gul Nawaz hospital, Bannu. Moreover, 6435 cattle provided with veterinary treatment while 17,659 cattles and 30,545 poultry were also vaccinated.
