Bomb blast kills two, injures three in Saddar – Karachi

KARACHI: A powerful explosion heard near parking plaza located in densely populated Sadar area of Karachi, the metropolis of Pakistan.

Two persons were killed and three others got severe injuries in the incident. One person amongst two deceased was passer-by on motorcycle while other was a fruit stall holder.

Three motorcycles and several fruit carts were completely demolished in the explosion.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police of South Zone said that the attack was carried out by an unidentified suicide bomber who used a motorcycle with police department’s number plate.

Police sources said that the explosives were planted on a motorcycle while the final report will be released after completion of investigation by security officials.

Various security and rescue teams reached at the incident’s site; number of casualties expected to be increased due to the high-intensity blast.

The dead bodies and injured persons were shifted to Jinnah hospital by the rescue teams, whereas, security officials seized the destroyed vehicles including a motorcycle suspectedly used for the explosion.

One of the injured persons was identified as Maqsood.


The explosion took place near a mosque after Friday’s prayer while it was reported by a local via telephone call rocked the area.

Heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies cordoned off whole area and called off the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on the location.

It should be mentioned here that the terror attack carried out under tight security arrangements claimed by higher authorities across Pakistan especially in the metropolis.
