British MP tweet ‘fire rockets at Israel’ starts new controversy

LONDON: British Liberal Democrat party member parliament (MP) was criticized on Wednesday for tweeting in favor of Gaza.

According to reports, the MP David Ward was extremely critisied for his tweet that he would fire rockets at Israel if he lived in the Gaza Strip.

He was previously been suspended from the party because of the remarks about the Jewish State.

Israel has been involved in the brutal attacks including air strikes at Gaza for last 16 days killing 630 Palestinians including innocent children and women.

Some on social media called on party leader Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to suspend Ward from the Liberal Democrats, while others described the comment as an incitement to violence.

According to reports party itself form distance from the comments and had a long called peaceful solution for the conflict, said Clegg.

“We utterly condemn David Ward’s comments, they are not representative of the Liberal Democrats,” the party said in a statement.

“The party takes this matter very seriously and will treat it as a disciplinary issue.”
