Protesters attack Israel football players in Austria

VIENNA: Turkish Austrians audiences on Wednesday evening expressed their outrage over Israel military’s offensive attacks on Gaza by beating Israeli players in the ground, local media reported.

According to reports the protestors attacked the team just five minutes remaining in the playing time, stormed the pitch shouting slogans about the Gaza conflict, in which more than 700 Palestinians have been killed and thousands displaced.

There were clashes between the protestors and the players from Maccabi Haifa, which was playing a friendly match against the lille in Bischofshofen, Poilce said.

No one was injured in the incident and police were quickly able to calm the situation, reports.

The provincial office for the protection of the constitution is investigating.

“Guests who are staying in Austria have the right to do so in safety, regardless of their origin and religion,” Werner Faymann said in a statement.
