Turkey gives permission to ‘Freedom Flotilla II’ for Gaza

LONDON: Turkish authorities have given permission to Freedom Flotilla 2 which can leave for Gaza any day and at any moment, claimed media reports.

Turkish sources said that while Israel was preparing to relaunch attack on Gaza, a “Freedom Flotilla” was being organized in Turkey to bring aid to the Hamas governed Palestinian coastal enclave.

The reports said that this new initiative has been named as “Freedom Flotilla II,” because it is going to be the successor of the Mavi Marmara flotilla that aimed to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip back in May 2010.

This new flotilla is also organized by the same organizers who had launched the previous initiative of this type.

The full name of the organizers are Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief” (Insani Yardim Vakfi), commonly known as the IHH, Israel and the US have both labelled the IHH a terrorist organization long ago but HH chairman Bulent Yildrim told local Turkish media that the activists are determined to go for it again and this time they will have protection of Turkish navy too.

He said they can set sail any time as they had received permission from the authorities in Ankara.
