KABUL – President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, has appointed first ever female as a judge to the Supreme Court of Afghanistan.
President of Judges Association Afghanistan, Anisa Rasouli, has been appointed as a judge to nine members bench of the Supreme Court of Afghanistan.
Sources said that the decision of appointing Anisa Rasouli as a judge to the Supreme Court of Afghanistan was pending from the past one month due to the opposition from different conservative groups.
Ashraf Ghani during an address to the gathering of women rights activists and civil society members expressed his happiness for appointing first ever female as a judge of Supreme Court, adding that he felt proud for the move.
He said that it was a path towards a positive change and women should be given a chance to utilize their skills in the main affairs of the country, adding that all the ministries should appoint female as a vice ministers.
